Looks like all the digging is inside the Col Winslow camp of 1755 which enclosed the soldiers tents, church, priest’s house, church yard (cemetery), plus another small dwelling and at least one well that Col Winslow says he had dug. According to Ensign Bancroft, the walls of the encampment were “Laid out to Enclose the Mass house and ye two Dwelling houses it was 117 rods in Length and nine rods in Bredth.”. About 644 yards by 50 yards.

Turned out to be just a shallow depression. There was nothing in there of particular interest, which is a shame, really, because the feature looked so sharp in the photos.
